The surface properties of sodium dodecylsulfate(SDS) and hexadecyl trimethyl amine bromide(CTAB) in the mixed solvent of ethylene glycol and water, which volume proportion is 1:1,has been studied by measuring the surface tension. It was shown that the mixed system has the smaller surface tension when the SDS and CTAB are equimolar. In the meantime, composition of mixed surface adsorption layers and micelles, and their molecular interaction parameters have been calculated by iterative method according to the regular solution theory. The results showed that the mixed system has great synergistic effects on the surface tension reduction and mixed micelle formation.
