A 3D supermolecular complex [Cu2I2(C8H6N2)]∞ has been synthesized in aqueous solution and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction.[Cu2I2(C8H6N2)]∞ crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with a=4.7315(14) ,b=17.722(6) ,c=13.862(3) ,β=92.91(2) °,V=1160.8(6) 3,Z=4,ρ=2.924 g/cm3,F(000)=928,μ=8.943 mm-1,R=0.0482,wR2(I>2σ(I))=0.1038.According to X-ray crystallographic studies, each Cu(I) ion of [Cu2I2(C8H6N2)]∞ is tetra-coordinated with three iodine atoms and one nitrogen atoms from C8H6N2 to form a distorted tetrahedron. In this article we also measured the fluorescence property of the compound.
