To meet the needs of society so as to keep up with the developing trends,the international education programs for the Vietnamese students in Guangxi Normal University(GNU)have gone through3stages:the1950s～70s as the initial stage during which the Chinese Government set up schools on the current GNUYucai campus and other sites in Guilin as a goodwill aid to provide educational accesses to the Vietnamese students;the mid1990s as the rehabilitating stage which witnessed the estabˉlishment of intercollegiate relationship of exchanges and cooperation between GNU and her partnership institutions of higher learning in Vietnam and the growth of teacher training programs for trainees from Vietnam to GNUfor professional development;the late1990s as the steady and prosperous stage which marks a breakthrough in number and scale of self-paying Vietnamese students to GNU as the major trend.The present development unfolds a panorama of large population of in-school Vietnamese students,non-degree and degree programs co-existing in multi-disciplines and majors,variety of instructional modes and programs,which can be summarized into6characteristics.
