The charge transfer complex(His)4H3PMo12O40·10.5H2O is synthesized using histidine and molybdphosphoric acid as the starting materials by one step solid-state reaction at room temperature. The title compound is characterized by elemental analysis,FTIR spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD),UV-vis spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis(TG).The results indicate that in the complex the heteropoly anions retain the Keggin type structure. There are charge transfer interactions between the organic substance of histidine and heteropoly anion in the complex. In the ultra-violet region of the UV-vis absorption spectra, the title complex show new charge transfer band.Correspondingly,in the visible region the complex show weak inter-valence-charge-transfer(IVCT) bands between Mo5+ and Mo6+.
