Stable superhydrophobic n-tetradecanoic acid (CH3(CH2)14COOH) film was pre- pared by means of sol-gel and self-assembly techniques, with a very high seawater contact angle (158°) and a small sliding angle (<5°). There are many microconvexi-ties with binary structure uniformly distributed on the surface atop the film with an average diameter of about 80 nm by observation of scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the film surface structure is similar to that of lotus surface. The corrosion resistance behavior of intermetallic Fe3Al with the biomimetic superhydrophobic film surface is improved obviously when compared with pure Fe3Al sample by measurement of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).

Image mosaic is a crucial step in the three-dimensional reconstruction of composite materials to align the serial images. A novel method is adopted to mosaic two SiC/Al microscopic images with an ampli-fication coefficient of 1000. The two images are denoised by Gaussian model, and feature points are then extracted by using Harris corner detector. The feature points are filtered through Canny edge de-tector. A 40×40 feature template is chosen by sowing a seed in an overlapped area of the reference image, and the homologous region in floating image is acquired automatically by the way of correlation analysis. The feature points in matched templates are used as feature point-sets. Using the transfor-mational parameters acquired by SVD-ICP method, the two images are transformed into the universal coordinates and merged to the final mosaic image.
